President's Message

Greetings!

As president of the Birmingham Chapter of ARMA International for the 2005-2006 term, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all who are taking the time to review our new website! We are looking forward to a great year with programs featuring informative speakers.

Some of our upcoming programs include Electronic Discovery during Litigation, Deploying EDMS, and Business Continuity. We will also be hosting a two-day seminar in March, 2006. Day one's topic will be "Disaster Recovery - Case Studies from Hurricane Katrina" and the second day will feature Dr. William Saffady, author of Managing Electronic Records, speaking on this topic. We are happy to have as our co-sponsor for day one, the Alabama Association of Business Continuity Planners. This is our first joint effort and we have expectations for a great success.

With changes in business practices, as well as changing regulations, expertise in records and information management is more in demand than ever before. The Birmingham Chapter of ARMA International welcomes the increased demand and wants to be of service to those needing information and assistance in these fields. Our members includes representatives from the energy and utility sectors, law firms, financial institutions, manufacturing and other businesses interested in protecting their information assets. Our members also include vendors offering services in records management software, inactive storage, destruction, supplies and equipment, records management consultants, and other services in the records and information management fields.

Our next meeting takes place Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at the Vestavia Country Club, 400 Beaumont Drive, Vestavia. Luncheon begins at 11:30 ($15.00 with reservations, $16.50 for walk-ins). Our meeting begins around 12:00 p.m. Our speaker for this meeting is Craig Huggart with the IT Department of Bradley Arant Rose and White, LLC.
