President's Message
If you plan on attending the ARMA International's conference in San Antonio this month and have not yet received some of the new Bham ARMA lapel pins for trading, please contact me ASAP.
Birmingham ARMA's next meeting is scheduled for October 19th, Training Room 4A at Alabama Power Company's main office located at 600 18th Street North. For additional information, please read the attachment. Check with the guard's desk in the lobby for a badge and room information, if needed. As before, bring your lunch to the Training Room at 11:00 a.m. The meeting starts at 11:30 with the workshop starting around 12:30. Cost for the workshop is $20 each for ARMA members or their corporate guests and $25.00 for non-ARMA members.
This month, the regular meeting's topic will be how to research and gather information to create retention schedules for various areas of business. A workshop follows providing specific information on employee-related records. These include HR Administration, employee benefits, OSHA related exposure, payroll, drug and alcohol testing, etc. While the general meeting's presentation will later be posted to our website, the workshop information will not be posted so please attend if you have any business interest in this area.
Our meeting location is about to change. We will not be able to use the Electra Room at Alabama Power in the near future so have once again reserved the Windsor Room at Vestavia Country Club. More about this with next month's update.
